I love all things modular, I love all things square, and I love all things symmetrical (sometimes it's a little difficult being in my head). So it's no wonder I love Ikea. But, Ikea doesn't have a wall full of shelves that's as AMAZING as I do :)
One day last week when I came home from work, Chris was building the modular 8'x8' wall shelving unit I had designed for my art room
I SQUEALED with joy upon entering the garage. I cannot tell you how happy seeing all of those symmetrical square shelves where I could organize and label all of my art supplies made me. I'm in a tizzy again just THINKING about it.
After Chris got all three built, we painted them, and boy where we happy we had the sprayer because it made the job A LOT easier
After we got them all painted we had to figure out how the hell we were going to get them into the house. DOH! After some serious strategizing and A LOT of heavy lifting we finally got them all in
Then came the task of moving in all the furniture (including Chris building my table legs and assembling the table) and organizing my art supplies (which was quite the time consuming task)
Once all the art supplies were in (still MORE ROOM for MORE SUPPLIES :) heheheehhehe) and organized (although I still need to get a couple of baskets and containers for some things) I had Chris go out so that I could move in the rug, put the table in the right place and assemble the futon couch by myself so he could be surprised at the room's wonderous beauty when I was finished :)
And about 15 minutes later, VOILA!
I LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE it!!!!! I just sat on the futon for a while and couldn't believe that the room is (almost) done. It's amazing to think that not too long ago we were here and here with a BIG GAPING hole in the back of the art room
The room still needs a BIT of finishing touches. I'll move in my desk and computer, I need to paint the back of the door and get a doorknob for it, we'll also cut a white board and attach it to the back of the door so I can write down notes and ideas, and I still need to spray paint my frames and hang my pictures and art from the trees on the wall. When projects work, come together in the end and look great it really gives you faith that you're doing the right thing and that ONE DAY we'll have a "finished" and beautiful home :)
Now for some arting!
