Alright Picardy Project readers, it’s time you hold me accountable and help me finally get back to working on the house. And while work on the bed has stalled a little bit (but our bank accounts are happy with the extra handyman work), I’ve decided to start work on another room. Because that’s always smart. Enter: the nook

This is one of the few rooms we have barely worked on. We’ve patched a little here and there and Chris has rewired the outlets and center light, but that’s it. It’s time to make it not look like shit.

First off, it needs to be cleared and organized. I do card fulfillment for my mom’s greeting card company

This stuff will get organized and moved to the attic once I receive all of her cards, but for the time being I’ve just thrown it in here.

Then there’s also a bunch of shit piled randomly

It shouldn’t take too long to get this room cleared out. It just becomes musical chairs throughout the house and this will get piled somewhere else. Once it is clear, I want to get it painted, FINALLY. We still have a decent amount of work to do before we can paint the walls. There is patching (hello original wallpaper)

And some trim needs to be installed (both crown and baseboard)

(we opened that doorway up into the kitchen when we redid it. That used to be a pocket door)

The ceiling also needs to be fixed – it’s sorta popcorn-y and has a little bit of damage

And eventually the light will be replaced (because that ceiling fan is hideous)

BUT, for the time being I can get to the windows and those awesome “curtains”

There are 5 windows in here and I want them to have the candycane wrapping paper I got for our Christmas decorations taped in them. Our street’s tree lighting event is Saturday night and I’d like to have all the decorations done by then. SO, it’s my goal to clean these windows…

…and get one painted every day until Saturday. That way I will at least have made some progress on the house and in here to make me feel like I’m not being a sloth. It might be exciting to even get the curtains I sewed nearly 4 years ago hung in here once the windows are painted instead of taping up random pieces of fabric. Classy, right?

The first window might actually get painted today because my mom is babysitting Zoe so I’ve got the WHOLE DAY to run around and get stuff done. Bah! Thanks mom! Ok, it’s time to clean some fucking windows and get shit done!
