Cashew’s Curtain Fabric

December 21, 2012

I’ve finally gotten the urge to start filling Cashew’s room. Not a lot, but slowly start figuring out what exactly I want. I have no idea what crib we should get, no chair for nursing, no dresser or changing table, but hey, I’ve finally gotten the curtain fabric figured out. Chris wondered why I needed to get new curtain fabric, but I want to try to ensure the best napping possible so I want to make a roman shade with blackout fabric. So new fabric it is.

The paint color in this room will remain the same, and the paintings on the wall will stay also

I love the soft blue color of this room and I think the 3 paintings are bright, colorful and fun. So when I started looking for fabric I really wanted something to compliment the paintings. I liked some

Swavelle/Mill Creek Indoor/Outdoor Lovara Celestial Blue
(found here)
Robert Allen Kiki Pinata
(found here)
Richloom Indoor/Outdoor Wildwood Garden
(found here)
Waverly Wonderama Blue Jay
(found here)
There were a couple that were more subdued that I liked too
Waverly Pom Pom Play Spa
(found here)
Waverly Button Blooms Spa
(found here)
Premier Prints Cottage Twill Harmony
(found here)
But ultimately, I couldn’t really pull the trigger on any of them. At least not enough to show them to Chris. I just didn’t like any of them with the paintings. And, then the light bulb went off. Duh! Why don’t I make a print in Photoshop and get it printed on fabric? Hooray!
I made this one pattern on a pair of shoes for our friend’s wonderful daughter Jane
(seriously, if our daughter is 1/2 as awesome as Jane, I will be very, very happy).
If you click the photo you can see the pattern a bit. It’s very colorful, bright, happy stars. And I knew immediately that that was the pattern I wanted to make. This is what I have so far
Clearly I’ve got some work to do to finish it. But I think it will be positively awesome. And hopefully Chris likes it 🙂

Meryl you are too sweet! Cashew will be awesome and Jane is excited to be a good example 😉 love the fabric idea and Jane loves those shoes. I think we might have to commission another pair in a larger size. We just went to the Old Fashioned and it was awesome, as usual. We talked of you and Cashew and my mom says Congrats! Anyways, I have lots of opinions on cribs, chairs etc as you know so feel free to ask! And see you and that belly soon!!

I'm loving the color, clearly 🙂

Oh, hello there. We're Chris and Meryl and we're renovating home in Oakland, CA. Chris is the handy, knowledgeable builder and I'm his slightly inappropriate assistant. We've got 2 helpers - Zoe is 2 and Merritt arrived in June of 2015. Spurred by our love of renovating our own home we started a handyman, design and organizing business and now that we're both self employed we're busier than ever, but we love it!
