I have realized that I am TERRIBLE at “Before and After” posts. Well, actually FINISHING the projects that would allow those posts. You see, Chris and I have a bad habit of moving on to other projects when we’re about 90% done with the current one.

For instance: once we could cook in our kitchen, we moved on

(we STILL have that backsplash to install…)

Once we could do laundry in the laundry room, we moved on

Once our foyer was practically complete, we moved on

(ALL we have to do is install the baseboards.)

I don’t know if we’re terrible at finishing projects, or if we just have so much to do in the house, it’s better to move on and get other things operable. I’d like to think it’s the latter. It makes me feel better about myself.

Case in point: the garage is basically complete (like I said, we were consistently working on this project a couple months ago, and once it was almost done, we moved on to the bathroom).

The doors have been nearly done for some time, but last time I showed you they looked like this

I won’t explain in depth because that would take A LONG time, but here is the abbreviated version:

We sanded and patched and primed

Painted the inside white (don’t worry, that yellow patch is now white) and installed some simple handles

Painted the outside blue (the same color as our gutters – from when our roof was redone – and the eventual color of our house trim)

Installed some AWESOME handles

Scraped and scraped and SCRAPED the excess paint off the 24 windows

Installed sheathing for the stucco patches

Got the stucco patched

Installed a lock

Cleaned the FILTHY windows

Which involved me scraping and scraping and SCRAPING a gross and sticky substance off of 5 of the windows that took me HOURS. Seriously. What the hell is that crap?

And after a final hose down, those babies are DONE!

Alright, that wasn’t really an abbreviated version. But what can I say, we finished something!
