Thank You Sarah

October 10, 2013

Last week it was my birthday and when Chris asked what I wanted a couple weeks ago, I wasn’t sure. And then I remembered a wonderful link that wonderful Sarah from St. Paul Haus shared with me several weeks ago – I wanted a Metrodome Bag!!! What am I talking about? Well, thanks to the wonderful internet, when I posted about the baseball trip map that we got framed…

…Sarah shared this awesome article in the comments

Isn’t that so fucking cool?!?!?! When they tore down the Metrodome they used the fucking roof to MAKE BAGS! I thought that was the coolest thing in the world, but I couldn’t stomach paying $160 myself for one of the bags

I actually found the price to be completely fair. Sure, it’s pricey, but it’s made in the USA, made to order and guaranteed for life. It wasn’t really the price I balked at, it was spending the price on myself –> I hardly ever buy anything that nice for myself. But when my birthday popped up it seemed like just the thing to ask for 🙂

Chris ordered it for me about 2 weeks ago and it was supposed to take 3-4 weeks to arrive (remember, they’re made to order) so imagine how fucking excited I was when it arrived at our doorstep last night while we were eating dinner. I ran to get scissors, opened up the package and marveled at its pure beauty

Oh my god I LOVE IT

Amazing, right?

The white part is the part that’s made out of the roof of the Metrodome (the old stadium the Minnesota Twins used to play in. The baseball park we saw them play in on our baseball roadtrip). The coolest thing is the markings on the material. They “warn” you about this, but I think that’s the coolest part! I love seeing the wear of the old roof

The material is super tough and flexible. Afterall, it had to stand up to Minnesota winters. And it even comes with a certificate of authenticity

Oh man, I love this bag. As a baseball fan it’s just so cool to have. I can’t wait to use it today. Bah! And I never would have known about it if it wasn’t for you awesome readers. Thank you Sarah.

Oh, and GO A’S! Game 5 tonight, everyone think wonderful thoughts! Me (and my bag) will be at the game. It’s time to kick Verlander’s ass!

I have been reading your blog forever and love it. I was gone for a week and just did catch up. I couldn't believe it when I saw this post. I live in Minnesota. My niece works in marketing for Duluth pack. And the woman modeling the purse you got is her! This is so cool! She is so happy you love your purse. I love the dome roof fabric.. She gave me a sample piece. I am considering one for myself. Small world.

Oh, hello there. We're Chris and Meryl and we're renovating home in Oakland, CA. Chris is the handy, knowledgeable builder and I'm his slightly inappropriate assistant. We've got 2 helpers - Zoe is 2 and Merritt arrived in June of 2015. Spurred by our love of renovating our own home we started a handyman, design and organizing business and now that we're both self employed we're busier than ever, but we love it!
