After Chris had a small redo of tiling on Day 1, it was smooth sailing, so this weekend we were looking forward to getting a decent amount done despite the fact that we’d be stopping early on Sunday for the Super Bowl. Here’s where things were after day 1
When we tiled our main bathroom it went pretty slow and Chris and I were both really involved in the tiling process (and I learned a lot). Because the tiles were glass I back buttered all of them before they went on (so there were no visible bubbles or anything on the back), I prepped the wall ahead of him by spreading out the thinset, and I cut all the tiles. The glass tiles were completely flat so Chris had to spend a decent amount of time with every single tile making sure they were all level, on the same plane and not puckering out from the wall too much because there was very little room for error. On the other hand, the beveled subway tile is so much easier to deal with, and as a result I help Chris by doing some prep work (getting all the tiles out of the box and lined up and ready) but mostly I’m just the official cutter, and because there aren’t too many cuts, that frees me up to do other things around the house (like FINALLY getting the cubby all painted, painting 3 coats on the pocket door, patch and paint in Cashew’s room, etc.) So mostly I got to hang out with Chris while painting in there, but not actually tile myself, hehehehe
Then Chris moved on to tiling up the shower
On Sunday after we completed some other small tasks Chris spent about 2 hours finishing up the shower wall

The small sliver of a row at the very top of the shower looks like a finishing tile to me as in it was supposed to be there… Looks fantastic!

Works for me! 🙂

I agree – the top tile is almost like a trim piece that looks like it's totally done on purpose!
